We Love Our Library!

Reading is a joyful experience here in Level 3. We have a wonderful collection of trade books and we clearly enjoy spending time with them. We keep track of all the genres we read over the course of the year, and we use our reading to explore aspects of the major themes we are studying in all classes. The biggest goal we have in this level is for students to develop a joy of reading that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

 

 

Today in Science class we made candles as we discussed the three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. Then we experimented with liquid density as we tried to “mix” oil and water. Next we changed the density of water by adding salt so that our sinking eggs began to float. We recorded all of our observations and were amazed at how much salt it took to float one group’s egg. We theorized that this particular egg may have a double yoke and therefore could be denser than its “lighter” cousins.
